Sam Ward

Having graduated from Oxford University in 2015, sam is training at Birkbeck College for a Masters degree in directing. From September 2016, Sam will take residency as a director at HOME theatre in Manchester.

Sam’s play Closing Time was performed as part of the New Writing Festival 2013 where it won best production. He is the founder of Hypnotist Theatre and directed their productions of The Trial (Burton Taylor Studio), Foxfinder (O’Reilly Theatre in association with Rough-Hewn), The Pitchfork Disney (O’Reilly Theatre), Crave (Burton Taylor), and is currently directing The Country(Burton Taylor Studio). He devised and directed GRIMM which performed in the C Too Mainstage in this year’s Edinburgh Festival. During his time in Oxford he has acted in A Day in the Death of Joe Egg (Burton Taylor), Kvetch! (Burton Taylor), Fear: Devised Play 1 (Burton Taylor) and is currently working as part of the cast of The Pillowman (Oxford Playhouse)

Prior to Oxford, Sam directed Punk Rock (Studio Theatre Salisbury) and acted as  Goldberg in The Birthday Party (Studio Theatre Salisbury) with JustTalk Theatre.
